Aldi – the UK’s fourth largest supermarket – has announced bold expansion plans for 2025.
The supermarket is planning to open a new store in the likes of Fulham Broadway in London, Billericay in Essex, and Cheadle in Stoke-on-Trent.
Aldi has already been expanding in 2024, as new stores recently popped up in Totton in Hampshire, Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and Pwllheli in Gwynedd.
Now the budget supermarket is planning to open around 30 new stores in 2025 to accelerate its expansion across Britain’s towns and cities.
Although Aldi has kept tight-lipped (for now) on where the next stores are likely to pop up.
Mr Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer, Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “At Aldi, our unwavering commitment has always been to provide Britain with the best value groceries.
“The demand for our unbeatable prices is now at an all-time high, which gives us the confidence to continue investing in Britain to provide greater access to our award-winning products at the lowest prices.”
Mr Hurley added: “We recognise that there are still areas without an Aldi store, so our expansion plans for 2025 are designed to address some of these gaps as we work towards our long-term goal of 1,500 UK stores.”
In other news, Aldi announced its second pay increase for Aldi store colleagues this year, paying a minimum hourly rate of £12.40 nationally and £13.65 within the M25.
And with the busy Christmas season in full force, Aldi will also be extending its opening times.
From Saturday, December 21, Aldi will be open from 7am to 10pm – giving shoppers an extra hour in the morning to get their last bits of Christmas shopping.
Aldi will also be open on Sunday, December 22 between 9.30am and 4pm, thereby extending its normal opening times by half an hour.
Those who are really leaving shopping to the last moment can rest assured that the budget supermarket is still open from 7am to 10pm on Monday, December 23.
