This recipe from California Walnuts combines everything Britons love in one dish – melted cheese and toast.
The site said this recipe is “great to use up odd leftover bits of cheese from the fridge and two to three-day-old bread”.
Taking just 10 minutes to prepare and cook, this recipe is simple, easy and promises “golden” and “melted” cheesy goodness.
How to make cheese and walnut toasts
Prepare: Five minutes
Cook: Five minutes
Serves: Two
Ingredients:
- Two slices white farmhouse bread
- Two tbsp caramelised onion chutney
- 75g grated Cheddar & Mozzarella cheese
- 25g California Walnuts, chopped
- Two spring onions, finely sliced
- One red chilli, finely chopped (optional)
Method:
Preheat the grill to high.
Next, toast one side of the bread and spread the chutney on the untoasted side.
Then, mix together the cheese, walnuts, spring onions and chilli and sprinkle it over the chutney.
Finally, place the toast under the grill for two to three minutes until it’s “melted and golden”.
If you’re not a fan of spicy food, the red chilli can be removed.
You can also use a different type of bread, like sourdough or wholemeal, or a different flavour chutney or cheese, if you prefer.
